We didn’t follow the normal route - instead we first climbed to the highest viewpoint to see the glacial river, which was really beautiful. After that, we didn’t want to backtrack and noticed there seemed to be a rocky path going down, so we found our own way directly to the lakeside. This made for a nice loop - no repeated paths and we got to see both spots in one go.
