Parking Tip

Park here. A bus takes you to the helipad, then a helicopter to the mountain.

Environment

A dynamic glacial landscape of deep blue ice formations and dramatic vertical moulins.

Strong UV reflection from the ice surface necessitates high-protection eye and skin gear.

The glacier is a living environment; ice features change daily with the movement of the glacier.

Our Story

This is one of New Zealand’s two most famous glacier tours, each offering different scenic beauty. If you book two seats together, there’s a chance to get upgraded to the front row of the helicopter—usually an extra cost.

Glacier hiking is a novel experience where you learn to use crampons and walking sticks. We recommend booking the first slot of the day for the best weather. It also gives you time to have lunch on the ice—you can even bring your own coffee and use the natural glacial ice!

Note: The route map is for reference only as the glacier changes constantly. The entire experience takes about 4 hours, with a 10-minute helicopter ride.
